If I arrive early what is there to do?

Lots is the simple answer. Liverpool is a fascinating city, home of the Beatles and of the Liverpool Football Club. It has wonderful Victorian architecture as well as renovated modern complexes such as the Albert dock. Liverpool is richly endowed with museums, 32 in all, many of which are home to many world class collections. Indeed Liverpool is bidding to be the European Capital of Culture in 2008. A history of Liverpool is available on-line and an excellent booklet "Liverpool Heritage Walk" can be purchased from the tourist office which details historical walks around the city. For music to lighten the spirit, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society is world famous. If you tire of the city, there is excellent public transport to the Wirral Peninsular and the mountains of Wales are but a two hour drive away. The North West of England in general offers much in culture, sightseeing and relaxation. and then at the end of all that sightseeing, what better to finish the day than a pint in one of Liverpool's historic pubs.

Where can I find comprehensive tourist information?

Visit the Mersey Partnership WWW site. Use the lower menu on that site to display comprehensive, What's On, information about Liverpool and Merseyside in general. There is also a special section on Tourism on the MerseyWorld WWW site.
